Curious how a good roof is built?

A good roof has six layers. Each one has a job. Tap a layer to find it in the picture.

  1. Everything is nailed to it. Rotten boards won't hold nails.

  2. It stops water that gets past the shingles. Laid wrong, water runs under it.

  3. It seals the low spots where water collects. Without it, rain gets in there first.

  4. It seals around chimneys, walls, and vents. Bad flashing is a common cause of leaks.

  5. Air flows in low and out the top. Without it, heat and damp wear the roof out.

  6. They shed rain and sun. Nailed wrong, they can blow off in the wind.
